Welcome to the website of the Dawoodi Bohras of the Middle East
The Dawoodi Bohras are a Muslim community with a blend of ethnic cultures from Egypt, Yemen and India. Spread over 40 countries across the world, Bohras today are united by their faith and centuries-old principles. Renowned for being well-educated thriving business people and qualified professionals in a wide range of fields, Dawoodi Bohras strive to play productive roles in society.
The Dawoodi Bohras are guided by their leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, known in the Middle Eastern region as Sultan al Bohra. He counsels the community to be exemplary citizens of the country in which they live by wholeheartedly participating in projects and activities that contribute to the development of the nation and benefit its citizens.
Although the Dawoodi Bohras trace their heritage to Yemen and Egypt, they migrated to other Middle Eastern countries from as early as the 1860s including the U.A.E, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The spirit of tolerance, lucrative economic opportunities and favourable conditions engendered by leaders in the Middle East for the community have attracted thousands to these lands, with over 60,000 members residing in this region today.
Bohras work in collaboration with local governments and various organizations to establish masjids, community centres, schools and educational institutes, hospitals and health centres, housing societies and many other socio-economic development institutions for the betterment of humanity.
